There are too many great young men that go unnoticed in the classroom and are suffering silently without a role model or reason to do better in school.
This program has had success and is currently in its 4th year at South Middle. The Young Men’s Initiative group is designed for 8th grade male students who may display leadership qualities, but struggle with their grades, attendance and/or behaviors. These 8th grade students are taught leadership skills, serve as mentors for younger students, and engage in multiple opportunities within the community to reinforce their leadership capabilities and help them grow as young men.
We aim to bring out the leadership capabilities found in everyone while maintaining good grades and displaying positive behavior.
We’ve had success at South Middle and want to share what’s working!
What it is
We aim to bring out the leadership capabilities found in everyone while maintaining good grades and displaying positive behavior
How it works
This program creates accountability for students who need daily reminders about positive behavior, good grades, and how to be the leader they (we) know they can be.
